Michael Welling, MLIS
Partner, Meridian Risk Management

Michael Welling leads the Commercial Group at Meridian Risk Management in Pelham, NY focusing on emerging markets including Life Sciences and Technology.

Michael’s passion for the Life Sciences stems from a personal experience with his now 11 year old. After experiencing first-hand the benefits of cutting edge research and ground breaking medical science, Having just celebrated the 10th anniversary of his son’s 2nd stem cell transplant, Michael has dedicated himself to this field.

Having always believed in “information first” when it comes to building strong partnerships, Michael and his family are active in supporting research and education across multiple fields.

Joanne Gere
Co-Chair, Westchester Biotech Project - BioPharma Research Initiatives

Joanne Gere came to the BioPharma Research Council (BRC) in 2013, and is leading BioPharma Research Initiatives (BRI), a sister organization launched as a 501 (c) 3 in 2017.

She has worked with volunteer committees, boards, speakers, and sponsors to grow the BRC into the premier association for scientists, engineers, and IT professionals across all the many silos of biomedical research. At present the international community includes more than 10,000, representing industry, academic, nonprofit, government, and supplier labs and their teams.

In 2016 the BRC presented symposia on cybersecurity for connected devices, point of care diagnostics, the microbiome, and data analytics. The Regional Pharma Manufacturing Expo is the association’s first foray into this end of the pool, and the energies of all who are participating are much appreciated.

Ms. Gere has a diverse history, working with entrepreneurs in the life sciences, supporting technologies, and publishing. Her experience reflects the biopharma industry’s changing landscape and the increasing awareness that collaborations and partnerships are essential for medical progress

Proven track record of establishing built-for-purpose, state-of-the-art multidisciplinary CAP/CLIA/DOH/JCAHO laboratories; hiring, training and directing start-up and commercial operations teams; creating stable, productive, harmonized environments. Current WellSpan Health Administrative Director, Lab Integration & Planning. Former Eurofins Central Lab VP & GM, U.S. & Global Lab Operations; Aureon Biosciences' CCO, VP Operations, Lab Director and Sr. Scientist; Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Research Fellow; Columbia University Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Kelly has over 25 years of experience as a scientist and executive in the pharmaceutical industry starting as a medicinal chemist in 1990.  After a successful early career developing LFA-1 antagonists, he was asked to lead Boehringer Ingelheim’s US-based medicinal chemistry department, which included 145 scientists in the high throughput screening, computational chemistry, structural biology, combinatorial chemistry and medicinal chemistry groups.  He joined CoMentis in 2010 as Chief Scientific Officer responsible for the Oklahoma City Research Center and the overall research portfolio.  He was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 2011.

Dr. Kelly completed his BS degree in chemistry at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D. degree in chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed postdoctoral work in natural products synthesis at Yale University and holds an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business.  Dr. Kelly is the co-author on over 25 scientific publications and an inventor on multiple patents.

Allison Paradise, Executive Director - My Green Lab

My Green Lab is a California-based non-profit dedicated to promoting sustainability in laboratories. My Green Lab works with over two dozen organizations in California and several organizations nationally to reduce the environmental impact of their labs through outreach programs and concrete initiatives. Paradise holds degrees in neuroscience from Brown and Harvard, and before founding My Green Lab, she worked as a scientific consultant.  She is the recipient of the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories' 2015 Go Beyond Award.

Amy J. Allen, Vice President - The Westchester County Association, White Plains, NY

Amy is Vice President of the Westchester County Association (WCA), where her main focus is on areas that are critical to the economic viability of the region such as health care, workforce development and public policy advocacy.   She also serves as the Executive Director of the WCA Workforce Academy which focuses on training the area workforce in the skills for the jobs of today.

Under Amy’s leadership, the WCA was awarded the project management role of a $9.8 million dollar federal USDOL grant, administered by Westchester County’s Workforce Development Board, which is designed to fill key positions in the healthcare and life sciences sector throughout the Hudson Valley. 

Amy holds an MBA degree in International Business from American University in Washington D.C. and a BA in Spanish from the University of New Hampshire and University of Valencia, Spain.

Marc's early career was in accounting with BDO Seidman and then he moved over to corporate finance with companies like Kraft Foods, Adidas USA and Continental Grain. Over the years, working closely with CEO's and Entrepreneur’s, Marc saw the need for Concierge Human Resource services for the small to mid-sized business, which all have Human Resource needs but not the full-time staff on board.
