Michael Welling leads the Commercial Group at Meridian Risk Management in Pelham, NY focusing on emerging markets including Life Sciences and Technology.

Michael’s passion for the Life Sciences stems from a personal experience with his now 11 year old. After experiencing first-hand the benefits of cutting edge research and ground breaking medical science, Having just celebrated the 10th anniversary of his son’s 2nd stem cell transplant, Michael has dedicated himself to this field.

Having always believed in “information first” when it comes to building strong partnerships, Michael and his family are active in supporting research and education across multiple fields.

Amy J. Allen
Vice President - The Westchester County Association, White Plains, NY

Amy is Vice President of the Westchester County Association (WCA), where her main focus is on areas that are critical to the economic viability of the region such as health care, workforce development and public policy advocacy.   She also serves as the Executive Director of the WCA Workforce Academy which focuses on training the area workforce in the skills for the jobs of today.

Under Amy’s leadership, the WCA was awarded the project management role of a $9.8 million dollar federal USDOL grant, administered by Westchester County’s Workforce Development Board, which is designed to fill key positions in the healthcare and life sciences sector throughout the Hudson Valley. 

Amy holds an MBA degree in International Business from American University in Washington D.C. and a BA in Spanish from the University of New Hampshire and University of Valencia, Spain.

Denise has managed global teams, lived and worked abroad and knows the value of bringing a practical approach to complex and ever-evolving business opportunities. She leverages her extensive experience as Head, Human Resources at Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, and the firm's practice working across an array of industries and functions, for diverse clients.

Denise holds certifications in: Executive Coaching, Myers Briggs (MBTI), Everything DiSC & The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Prosci Change Management and holds a degree from Bryant University.

Joanne Gere
Co-Chair, Westchester Biotech Project - BioPharma Research Initiatives

Joanne Gere came to the BioPharma Research Council (BRC) in 2013, and is leading BioPharma Research Initiatives (BRI), a sister organization launched as a 501 (c) 3 in 2017.

She has worked with volunteer committees, boards, speakers, and sponsors to grow the BRC into the premier association for scientists, engineers, and IT professionals across all the many silos of biomedical research. At present the international community includes more than 10,000, representing industry, academic, nonprofit, government, and supplier labs and their teams.

In 2016 the BRC presented symposia on cybersecurity for connected devices, point of care diagnostics, the microbiome, and data analytics. The Regional Pharma Manufacturing Expo is the association’s first foray into this end of the pool, and the energies of all who are participating are much appreciated.

Ms. Gere has a diverse history, working with entrepreneurs in the life sciences, supporting technologies, and publishing. Her experience reflects the biopharma industry’s changing landscape and the increasing awareness that collaborations and partnerships are essential for medical progress
